Vermiglio (also known as The Mountain Bride) is a 2024 wartime drama set in a remote Alpine village. As the momentous events of the Second World War draw to a close, and life returns to normal, the arrival of a Sicillian deserter unsettles the isolated Alpine community’s quiet equilibrium, and unsettles a schoolteacher’s family, particularly his eldest daughter.

Directed by Maura Delpero, and starring Tommaso Ragno (Happy as Lazzaro, Nostalgia), Vermiglio collected a slew of awards and nominations, including the Venice International Film Festival where Delpero won the Silver Lion and Sorriso Diverso (best Italian film), with Martina Scrinzi winning the Nuovoimae Talent Award for best new young actress.

Vermiglio will be screening at The Reel Chippenham from 7.30pm on Tuesday 10th March.
